Camel Dive Safari in the Red Sea, Egypt

Camels enjoying a well-deserved break on arrival
at our first dive spot
Come and join us to the land of the Bedouins, beautiful
red mountains and gorgeous blue sea. It's impossible to explain the
magic of a Camel Dive Safari unless you experience one yourself!
Ride a camel into remote areas along the Red Sea, dive or snorkel pristine
dive sites barely touched by other divers. Watch the sun set over the
sea, curl up around a campfire while tasting delicious local food and
sleep in a bedouin tent or under the stars. Wake at sunrise and do it
all again. This trips offers you complete relaxation with up to 4 dives
a day. All you need is your equipment, a sleeping bag and plenty of
sunscreen
Snorkelers are welcome on this trip as well.
To get us in the mood, we will start with a day of diving
(2 dives) in Dahab, our base on the Red Sea, where we will get our equipment
ready for our safari and do a check-out dive.
The next day, the trip will take us North along the coast
from the village of Dahab, diving the best sites from Ras Abu Galoum
to Ras Mammlah. Ras Abu Galoum is a small Bedouin fishing settlement,
populated by only 5 or 6 families and a beautiful location with amazing
vistas. Further north we'll find Ras Maied. At Ras Mammlah the desert
mountains meet the sea in the most extraordinary way. We will encounter
canyons and caves that start on land and continue into the sea. The
diving here is challenging, and only for people comfortable with overhead
conditions and currents. We'll do 6 dives plus an optional night dive.
From there we'll head back to Dahab for a well-deserved shower and some
rest.
The following day our southern safari takes us to Gabr El Bint. This
site was discovered by our host, Said, when he took a group of divers
on one of the very first Camel Diving Safaris. At Gabr El Bint we are
in the middle of nowhere - nothing but the mountains, sea and gorgeous
diving. The best diving can be found at 24-26m, with small caves and
a wall of gorgonians that stretches as far as you can see (and that's
a long way in the Red Sea!). We'll do 2 wall dives on the first day.
On our second day, a small canyon and the famous Blue Hole await us
with 4 dives, plus an optional night dive.
You wont find many buildings or people. What you will experience
is a fresh breeze, sandy beaches covered with palm and mangrove trees,
traditional fishing communities, pristine coral reefs and some of the
Sinais most unique land habit.
Divers should bring their own sleeping bags (light), sunscreen and something
to keep the sun off their head. Also dive certification card and log
book. During this safari you will spend 3 nights sleeping under the
stars (i.e. with mattresses and blankets) and 4 nights in ocean front
B&B accommodation. Hotel has a nice pool and clean comfortable rooms.
Itinerary:
Day one: 2 dives in Dahab
Day two-four: 3 day Camel Diving Safari to the Protected Areas north
of Dahab, 6 dives.
