An Exclusive Yet Affordable Liveaboard in Indonesia
- Submitted by Barbara Phua PL, Singapore -

Sail and Dive 5D/4N with Divetastic to Moyo National Marine Park in Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia.

Imagine sailing into the sunset after a day of diving and dinning under the stars. Let the French chef treats you to an assortment of European cuisine and freshly baked bread everyday. Be pampered and don't spend a fortune at all at US$395 for 5 days!! It is a sailing cum diving trip that is filled with adventure. In between the 2 dives everyday, you can spend the rest of your time spotting dolphins and manta rays, island hopping, reading, sun bathing or doing nothing.

We joined Divetastic on their liveaboard diving safaris to Moyo National Marine Park. Our adventure started soon after we left the port in Labuhan Lombok on 11 Sep 2002 afternoon. It was paradise on earth until we landed on Lombok again on 16 Sep 2002 morning.

Moyo National Marine Park is located northeast of Lombok and north of Sumbawa. During our trip, we dived at Wailing Wall, Haji's Fish Hareem, Gorgonian Grottos, Pelagic Magic, Kews Gardens, Angels's Reef and Raymond's Reef. We were impressed beyond words! All, except Wailing Wall, are submerged reefs in the waters off Pulau Moyo and Pulau Medang. As most of the dives were drift dives, it was difficult to take pictures underwater.

Divetastic
Divetastic Liveaboards is the brainchild of 3 dedicated professional divers who, after experiencing Indonesia's incredibly diverse and prolific marine environment and comparing their discoveries with other dive locations around the world, decided to set up a quality dive liveaboard operation aboard beautiful traditional vessels, so that others may also witness the unique and otherwise inaccessible beauty of diving the Indonesia Archipelago. Divetastic also offer diving in Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Komodo, Flores, Alor, Sulawesi and Irian Jaya.

After 4 years of operating and diving in some of the most remote and inaccessible hidden places the Indonesian Archipelago they have designed a variety of dive liveaboard expeditions that take in what they consider to be the best of the best in spectacular dive sites, special anchorages, beautiful scenery and fascinating cultural visits.

The Boat
KLM Felidae was designed by Bruce Roberts SPREY and built in Tanah Beru, South Sulawesi, by the boat-builder named Ahmad Nur according to the traditional boat building principles of the locals in South Sulawesi. It was launched in Jul 1993 and is fully equipped with modern equipment. It has 3 ensuite double cabins (including a beautiful master cabin) for 6 guests / divers (ideal for small groups, families, couples.)

Flying to Lombok

Lombok is 30-mins flight or a short ferry ride away from Bali. Direct flight connections are also available from Jakarata, Surabaya and Singapore to Seleparang Airport, the only airport on Lombok.

We arrived in Mataram, the provincial capital of Nusa Tenggara Lombok from Singapore onboard Silkair. There are daily flights between Singapore and Lombok except Thursdays.

Merpati and Garuda are the Indonesian Airlines that fly to Lombok.
