The real gems of this area are the protected Hilutungan and Nalusuan Marine Sanctuaries.
Both reserves are located about 15 to 20 minutes by Banca boat straight out from Mactan Island, near the southern tip of Olango Island. The two sanctuaries are located just minutes apart but offer completely different topography and marine life. This is due to Hilutungan being on the channel side of Olango Island and Nalusuan being closer to the Bohol Strait. Hiluntungan is also an excellent and popular snorkeling site.
It's a real treat to venture out for the day and get as many dives in as possible then eat lunch at the floating restaurant on the Northern tip of Olango Island (see photo above). This restaurant is surrounded by beautiful emerald waters and offers some of the freshest seafood you can imagine. The fish are kept alive in the sanctuary below until you choose your meal and they catch it, clean, and cook it in your favorite way in minutes of your arrival by water taxi.
One of the extended day to choose from while diving in Cebu is a day trip to Cabilao Island near the coast of Bohol. Truly spectacular for macro shots, enough said! (see photo right of cuddle fish).
There are many variations offered to this adventurous trip, so check for your interests and flex the trip in your parties favor. The staff at Scuba World is very accommodating to the different needs of every diver. They don’t just offer one itinerary and that's it. Their boats leave right from the dock at Plantation Bay and returns depending on how long you feel like staying out! It was this way with most of the resort owned and operated dive shops on Mactan Island. A truly great experience overall!
The Philippines is a tropical country with an average temperature of 32°C (80°F). March to June is hot and dry (36°C); rains and typhoons abound from July to October; November to February is pleasantly cool (around 23°C) and dry. In mountainous regions, temperatures dip to about 15°C.
Average temperatures vary from; December - March 21-25 C and April - November 25-28 C. These comfortable average temperatures allow divers to experience the underwater world in comfort in as little as a dive skin or when acclimatized, some divers prefer a full 3mm wetsuit.

Cebu is accessible by plane (Mactan International Airport) and boat.
By plane: Philippines Airlines (PAL) has seven daily flights from Manila and daily flights from 22 domestic destinations. Mactan International Airport is also served thrice weekly by PAL flights from Tokyo and twice weekly by Silk Air flights from Singapore. From Hong kong there are twice weekly flights with PAL and twice weekly flights with Cathay Pacific. By sea: A number of shipping vessels sail frequently between Manila and Cebu, which is a real adventure and not for the faint hearted.
