Charlotte: You seem to know the Asian and Australian waters quite well, have you dived in the Caribbean too?

Veruschka:
Yes, I have worked as a dive guide/videographer for Peter Hughes Diving and was diving in the Caribbean Atlantic 3 to 4 times a day. These included night dives. I think the diving in the Caribbean is very interesting. Maybe not as dramatic as in the Coral Sea but there are still many great dives to be experienced there.

Charlotte: We feature one of your favorite shots below, can you tell us on how this image came about?

Veruschka: Sure, this picture was taken when I was in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is a portrait of a schoolmaster snapper, taken while on a dusk dive. This particular snapper stood out, I had my flash ready and I snapped him!

Charlotte: What equipment do you use?

Veruschka:
I do all my UW filming on a professional digital video camcorder; a Sony DSR- PDX10P DVCAM and an Amphibico underwater housing with external monitor.

All of the footage on my Web site's show reel is made with a Diego Gates Underwater Housing and Sony TRV-900 camcorder. Illumination is provided by NiteRider HID video lights. I always make sure I use a color correction filter, and the final color is adjusted by choosing the correct white balance mode.

Charlotte: Are you into digital photography?

Veruschka: Yes! at this moment I would love to get a Nikon D70 camera, but I am still waiting for one.... The satisfaction of a digital camera is the instant knowledge of having taken the right shot then and there.

Most of my still images are still taken with slide film and a Nikonos V camera using different lenses according to the subject matter.

Charlotte: Any parting words for our readers?

Veruschka:
My goal right now is to film aquatic-related subjects. I am also very interested in helping our environment by bringing awareness through the recording of underwater footage.

I am a freelance camera woman with all the equipment necessary for underwater filming and I am capable of editing a film/video on location. I would love to work with a team of like minded people on interesting underwater projects.

Thank you Veruschka!
