When it comes to scuba gear and underwater photos/video equipment you should leave nothing to chance. Here is where we show you what has caught our attention in the world of ever-changing dive equipment.

Our featured gear this month are two excellent new housings made by Amphibico.

THE DIVE BUDDY

The very popular Dive Buddy “PLUS” housing is a compact aluminum constructed housing with a depth rated to 330ft. (100 meters) that includes a hydrophone for accurate underwater sound pick-up, Amphibico’s bayonet-mounted extra wide angle optics (with full zoom capability), an electronic moisture sensor alarm, color correction filter, 5 electronic push button controls, an internal flip filter for filters or macro diopters and two light brackets. With added new features it will help create optimal video quality. Users will be pleased to have access to switch from auto to manual focus, super zoom speed mode, memory stick mode for high resolution digital still pictures (for TRV33 only) and VTR mode to review their recordings. Optional accessories include Optimum 110 Aspheric Lens, 80 degree wet lens adapter, and Amphibico’s 10 Watt HID Light.

THE SURVEYOR II


Amphibico’s New Surveyor II Digital Still Housing is designed for both the Sony DSC-F707 & F717. The Surveyor is Amphibico’s first digital still camera housing in the world renowned line of underwater video equipment and accessories. The housing is manufactured from marine grade aluminum depth rated to 330 ft (100 meters) with ergonomically positioned camera controls and has perfect balance underwater. The housing features include both electronic and mechanical controls will access all key camera functions. On the electronic side we have the zoom T & W, pre-shutter/on (image framing), shutter and power off, and on the mechanical side we have the white balance, metering mode, mode dial (which gives access to different manual and automatic mode settings) and jog dial which gives access to aperture, shutter speed and exposure and also allows you to play back images on screen while in play mode. The housing will accommodate both the Sony DSC-F707 & DSC-F717 simply by mechanically switching the access control to white balance and metering mode.
