December 2000

By Keith MacMillan from the United Kingdom,
March, 1999
The picture was taken on the Soviet Destroyer, Capt. M.V. Tibbetts,
off Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands (see the map below). Keith used a Nikon
F4 camera in a Hogyfog housing from Switzerland.
The Soviet Destroyer
With
a maximum depth of 110ft under the exposed bow and the main deck at
40ft, every diver can find a comfortable profile on the only diveable
Soviet warship in the Western Hemisphere.
The ship has shifted since sinking and the props are now buried in sand
while the bow surfs on a wave of sand. A thin coat of algae has encrusted
the vessel and nudibranchs have taken residence in the wheelhouse, through
which divers can safely penetrate the top three decks. From the bow,
you can overlook the drop-off while schooling resident yellowtails and
snapper cruise by....

Kodak
saves your Pictures
For too long
underwater photos have been, well, simply all wet. Inherent problems with
underwater images meant traditional optical processing often produced
prints with exaggerated green or blue tints. In addition, the images frequently
appeared blurry and underexposed. A new processing service from Eastman
Kodak Company is about to change all that. Find
