Where to begin?
Discover Snorkeling, Discover Scuba and Scuba Diving
Not sure if a full-blown course is for you? Take a Discover Snorkeling, Discover Scuba or Scuba Diving course and experience the underwater world. Kids are welcome too. There are a variety of fun and exciting programs available for everyone.
Learn to dive in the world’s largest archipelago with Dive Indonesia. If you want to learn to scuba dive, the first step is to take a PADI Open Water Dive course, the most widely recognized and respected diving certification in the world. Within a few days, you can be enjoying the underwater world of Dive Indonesia.
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. The minimum age is 10 years old.
During the course led by our certified instructors, you will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by:
- Completing five pool dives
- Doing knowledge development sessions
- Making four open water dives
PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. At our Dive Indonesia resort in Gili Trawangan and at our dive center in Bali, you can complete the course in four days. In Jakarta, classroom and pool sessions are planned around your work schedule, and open water dives are made during the weekend at Thousand Islands.
Dive Indonesia supplies everything you will need all in one package. You will receive a PADI open water crew pack that includes the open water dive manual and charts. Videos will be shown in our comfortable classrooms. You will receive a log book, and all dive equipment including mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt, wetsuit, BCD, booties and tanks is provided for the dives.
Emergency First Response gives you the tools you need to perform CPR and first aid. Whether you’re a diver or a non-diver, Emergency First Response prepares you to properly handle potentially life-threatening situations. No dive certification is required, and there is no minimum age limit.
This comprehensive program is composed of two core modules that can be taught in tandem or as stand-alone courses: Emergency First Response – Primary Care and Emergency First Response – Secondary Care. Together, these courses proved extensive instruction in CPR and First Aid, as well as providing optional (yet recommended) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Emergency Oxygen sections.
Depending on the amount of home study, the Primary and Secondary courses maybe completed in as little as four hours. To complete the course, you will need a participant pack, which includes a manual, binder and first aid pack.
Have you always wanted to try underwater photography? How about wreck diving? Here’s your chance because you can sample three dives of your choice, get a taste of what you like, and feel more comfortable in the water, strengthening your underwater skills and letting you enjoy diving more than ever.
To start, you need a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification. The minimum age is 15 years old (10 for PADI Junior Adventure Diver).
This certification includes three of the following Adventure Dives:
Specialties Available to divers 10 years old and older:
- AWARE-Fish Identification Underwater Naturalist
- Boat Underwater Navigator
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Underwater Photography
Additional Specialties Available to divers 12 years old and older:
- Altitude Multilevel
- Deep Night
- Dive Propulsion Vehicle (DPV)
- Search and Recovery

- Underwater Videography
- Dry Suit
The recommended course hours total nine, and the maximum open water training is three dives over one day. For the course, you will need the adventures in diving crew-pak. After your PADI Adventure Diver certification, you can take the next step by completing two more adventure dives. If you completed five total adventure dives that include deep and navigation, you’re an PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. PADI Adventure Dives can also count toward PADI Specialty Diver certifications.
The Adventures in Diving program offers both the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications. If you complete any three adventure dives, you can earn your PADI Adventure Diver certification. If you complete your Deep Adventure Dive, Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive and three Adventure Dives for a total of five, you can earn your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
After your five dives, you’ll be more experienced, feel more comfortable in the water and simply enjoy diving more because you better understand the underwater environment. To do the advanced course, you need the PADI Open Water Diver certification and a minimum age of 15 (12 for PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver).

With four locations to manage and a family of three children, Andre now spends most of his time managing the business on land instead of diving underwater. He is, however, the dive buddy for his two PADI certified sons ages 11 and 13. His 13-year-old son already holds PADI certificates for openwater, advanced openwater, rescue and medic first aid, and his 11-year-old son is an openwater dive. Christoph, the frogman
Born in Paris and grew up there. I left Paris to travel the world, mostly in Southeast Asia where I naturally became a diver. Now I have been sharing my diving passion with my students for four years already. As you can see in the picture, my specialty is an underwater French kiss. I am still looking for an attractive big white shark. Welcome to the “Grand Blue.”
My name is Mohni, I live on Gili Trawangan. I have been working as a PADI assistant instructor since 2000. I spend most of my time diving and organizing dive trips around the three Gilis. When I was born, my mother said I had a good sense of humor so when I do dive briefings, everybody is always laughing. (If you cannot pronounce his name, just call him “Mr. Moon”, and he will laugh. He really does have a sense of humor!)
She may be small, but she is also mighty. A PADI certified diver, Ellen can outfit you for a simple snorkel trip with a mask, snorkel and fins, or she can supply a complete dive operation with compressors, tanks, scooters and rental sets. No matter how big or small, this woman can deliver.
This woman has certified so many divers that she has lost count. She reckons more than 1,000, and all of them have been fun experiences. That’s what she loves about diving – it’s a fun sport and fellow divers are fun. But while having fun, Nunung also reminds divers to do safe and enjoyable dives. Look for Nunung at Dive Indonesia in Jakarta, where she has been working since 1981 when Indonesia’s first dive center opened. Ask her about diving anywhere in the archipelago – she has been there and done it!
