Paradise Dive Adventure is owned and operated by Richard Whitehead in Bentonville Arkansas. Richard, a certified PADI Instructor, saw a need for a better way to help people that wanted to learn the joys of scuba diving. The local lake was getting a lot of pressure from power boats, and fishing tournaments. It was becoming increasingly more difficult to find safe clean places on the lake to dive. Richard has the land and the desire to build a private lake solely for the purposes of diving. No worries about power boats, sail boats, or jet ski’s. No trash or pollution, with great visibility.

Richard also saw a need for a place to provide high quality dive gear for his students, and others at a reasonable price. In addition to Richard’s dive shop at the private lake, he also wants to provide the same opportunities to those of you surfing the web, looking for the same high quality dive gear, and reasonable prices.

At Paradise Dive Adventure we strive to provide the best possible service. In addition to sales we also have full regulator service for Cressi-sub as well as BCD and tank tumbling services available on site as well. Where are you getting your air?

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I have to be, to be certified?

You must be at least 10 years old to receive a Junior Open Water Diver Certification. Ten and 11 year old Junior Open Water Divers must dive with a certified parent, guardian, or PADI Professional to a maximum depth 12 metres/40 feet. 12 to 14 year olds must dive with a certified adult. At age 15, the junior certification upgrades to a regular Open Water Diver Certification. However,we have “Bubble maker” classes for kids as young as eight years old.

What if I’m not sure if this is for me?

No problem, we offer the “Discover Scuba” program to allow you to experience what it’s like for yourself.

Are there any special qualifications or considerations to participate in a scuba class?

No. Generally speaking, anyone in good average health and at least 10 years old can participate. You will, however, complete a medical questionnaire. If anything on the questionnaire indicates a reason to be cautious about diving, you’ll need to check with a physician to make sure you can dive.

Do I have to be a great swimmer to be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver?

No. You need to be a reasonably proficient swimmer and comfortable in the water. You must swim 200 metres/200 yards nonstop, with out a time or specific stroke requirement or a 300 metre/yard swim with mask, fins and snorkel. You’ll also perform a 10 minute tread/float.

Is scuba diving expensive?

No. Like any hobby or recreation, you can invest however much you want, depending on your interest level. Because most dive centers and resorts rent equipment, you can invest in equipment over time, renting what you don’t have. Most people find the costs of scuba diving similar to the cost associated with snow skiing or mountain biking.

Beaver Lake

Until the completion of the private lake at the Paradise Dive Adventure facility, we are still using Beaver Lake for all of the open water training dives. After the completion of the private lake we will continue to use Beaver Lake for some “Specialty courses” as well.

Beaver Lake, nestled high in the Ozark Mountains, is located in northwest Arkansas, the birthplace of the White River. With some 487 miles of natural shoreline, Beaver Lake offers the best in recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.

Taking advantage of the natural and scenic beauty, the Corps of Engineers has constructed a variety of recreational facilities around the lake. Paved access roads wind through nine developed parks. In these camp grounds, visitors can enjoy modern campsites offering electricity and fire-rings with drinking water, showers, and restrooms nearby. Other facilities such as picnic sites, swimming beaches, hiking trails, boat launching ramps, sanitary dump stations, group picnic shelters, and amphitheaters are also available in the parks. Seven Corps of Engineers parks contain year-around commercial marinas providing grocery items, fuel, boat rental and storage, fishing guides and other supplies and services.

Beaver Lake offers several areas of interest for scuba divers. Like the school bus and foundations, the Dam site bluffs, sunken sailboat, underwater statues, sunken car, and for the more adventurous, underwater amphitheater, just to name a few.
