Recreational Courses

All Recreational courses are taught by one or more of our instructors and available from your choice of agencies.

Intro to Diving

If you have never dived before this introductory dive lets you experience what only another diver knows… the “weightless” exhilaration of breathing underwater.

This “Introductory Dive” is also called “Discover Scuba Diving” or also be “Resort Diving”… but whatever it’s called it’s the dive that gives you the opportunity to scuba dive and experience the sensation without doing a full dive course.

What happens?

This introductory dive is a highly supervised, guided scuba dive under the direct supervision of a diving instructor… You’ll start with a 30-45 minute dry briefing on basic diving concepts and scuba skills, sometimes you’ll be shown a short video and asked to complete a quick quiz. This will be followed by a dive in a pool or a safe dive on a section of the reef. Your dive will only take you as deep as 12 metres (40 feet) and your diving group will be limited to 4 or less. Generally your dive will last approximately 30 minutes, and during that time the instructor will be with you at all times… and if you want, will even hold your hand. Because most marine life is found in the shallower reef waters and coral colour is most vivid closer to the surface you will experience the reef at its best… you might even become addicted, and go on to do an ‘Open Water Diver’ certification course later

Prerequisites:
-You must be able to swim.
-No diving experience needed.
-Minimum age required:10 years old.
-You must answer a medical questionaire.
-You must sign a liability release.

Refresher Course

For certified divers who haven’t dived in the past 6 months or longer and would like to be eased back into diving under the direction of an instructor… This course will refresh your skills and you’ll revisit dive tables, hand signals and bouyancy control.

Prerequisites:
-You must be a certified diver.
-No diving experience needed. You must provide proof of cerification

Advanced Nitrox Diver

This program is designed to expand the divers knowledge in the use of Nitrox and instructs divers to maximize their bottom time with limited decompression. Advanced nitrox diving provides access to Nitrox mixes from 21% oxygen to 50% oxygen for decompression. The use of multiple mixes of gas in a single dive provides access to safer diving profiles in an extended range of operation. Advanced Nitrox training is designed to inform the diver about the use of higher fractions of O2 and multiple mixes of Enriched air nitrox, and provides an introduction to technical diving.

The course introduces the student to equipment and skills which will be built upon in the technical diver courses. Participants will further refine those skills learned previously. Aimed towards the experienced diver who wishes to take full advantage of nitrox without technical diving exposures.Lectures outline the safe use and management of multiple gas mixes, 50% O2 management and procedures, decompression strategies, as well as equipment and related skills. Technical diving basics and equipment requirements are taught in this course. This course forms a foundation for safe decompression diving, as well as a platform for continuing education into more advanced practices and technical diving.
