Descending from the blue clear waters of the fresh water Cheow Lan Lake, 25m into a thick sulphur layer, created from the decaying trees below from what once was lush forest before the reservoir was created. Visibility decreases, getting a little nervous and everything goes black…
For a minute I thought ‘oh my gosh where is my team? I can’t see anything!!’
Heart pounding as I look around and ponder, ‘wow I have never seen water so crystal clear in my life.
There is an orange mesmerizing glow, but where is it coming from?
Looking up from 45m with my twin set on my back, deco tanks on my left side, we see the sulphur layer moving and dancing like the northern lights, beauty beyond imagination.
Feeling exhilarated and wanting more, we move along our dive through the underwater forest and continue our search of the lost local Thai village that was left behind and vanished in the depths of the vast reservoir.
