This is another great dive site to spot the famous Mola Mola (sunfish) and as the currents bring in platonic life, it can also sometimes be the feeding ground of whale sharks. Gili Mimpang is made up of three large rocks alongside six smaller rocks and it is also great dive site in Bali to see white tip reef sharks and the rarer Wobbegong shark. Not a bad combination for one dive spot!
The dive site is best completed by advanced divers as to see the larger pelagic fish, divers need to head down to about 15 meters. The current can also be very strong so divers need to be careful with this as well.
It is most often completed as a drift dive, and there is a very healthy reef around the rocks. Visibility is around 15 meters and it has a sandy bottom. There are some lovely sea fans, some beautiful groups of reef fish including basslet, angelfish, and bannerfish.
The Mola Mola are normally found between August and October, and this is also the best time to see other fish such as trevally and tuna. Divers have spotted Coral Cat sharks but this is extremely rare. It is such a fantastic dive site and well worth a visit.
