Sitting in between Phuket Krabi and Phi Phi Don, Ko Yawabon is an island amongst a group of uninhabited islands and islets. It is a fantastic dive site mainly because of a unique 50-meter swim through. This is found at around six meters and divers can swim from one side of the island to the other through this tunnel.
This means that divers need to be trained on swim throughs, tunnels, and cave diving basics. As you enter this swim through, it becomes dark and this can lead less experienced divers to become nervous. The combination of the dark part of the tunnel and the occasional strong currents can make this a difficult dive if not properly trained. Before entering this swim through divers need to ensure that they are experienced enough to complete this dive site.
For qualified divers, it is a remarkable experience; almost like swimming under an entire island. It also is less busy than most dive sites and so divers can find many larger groups of fish that are left undisturbed. Divers will find inside the cave system many crabs and lobster. Out of the tunnel, it is easy to spot anemone fish, groupers, parrotfish, lionfish, and leopard sharks. It is also very common to find stingrays in the area.
