Translated from Thai, Koh Dok Mai means Flower Island and this is the location for one of the best wall dives in the Phuket area. The dive site consists of a very large limestone rock that rises from the seabed very steeply. The wall has many nooks, crannies, and crevices for divers to explore and the dive is well known for the abundance of reef fish along the wall, as well as the moray eels resident on the wall.
Visibility varies but it is normally around 25 meters, and the site has mainly moderate currents. The reef starts at around 4 meters with mainly pore corals and brain corals. The limestone rock goes down to about 28 meters with the east side being the most popular part of the wall for divers. This is the location of two caves, one larger one and one smaller one, which can both be dived. These are very narrow and so should only be entered by experienced divers with the necessary qualifications.
Along the wall, divers can expect to find anglerfish, ghost pipefish, seahorses, nudibranchs, flatworms, and tine white eyed moray eels. Divers are also commonly treated to sightings of groups of dancing shrimps along the wall.
Larger fish that swim along the wall include fusilier, barracuda, trevally, and snapper. Closer to the sea floor, sleeping leopard sharks have also commonly been spotted.
