Although Tatawa Kecil has notorious strong currents, it is nonetheless another fantastic dive site in the Komodo National Park. These currents make it a great site for drift diving and even with the strong currents it is still possible to dive caves, drop offs, and brilliant swim-throughs.

The best way to avoid the strong currents, if you are not an experienced diver, is to visit at half-moon when the tide is changing. This weakens the currents and makes this dive site safer and more accessible.
The dive site has an enormous abundance of reef fish and if you are looking for anthias, then this is the place to dive. You will find groupers, jacks, sweetlips, trevally, and bump-head parrotfish as well as turtles and sharks. As it is not too far from Manta Alley, the dive site situated at the Manta feeding point, the occasional Manta Ray joins divers visiting the site.

The area is also filled with large amounts of anemones and soft coral. At around 24 meters depth, there is a cave that has been taken over by pygmy seahorses, making them easy to spot even when camouflaged. If you are even luckier, you may also spot an elusive dugong.
