Considered by many seasoned divers as the best spot to dive in Tioman, The highlight of Tiger reef is a beautiful submerged reef and underwater rock pinnacle located between Pulau Labas and Pulau Sepoi, which slopes down from 8m down to about 22m and the maximum depths below the reef goes as far down as 40m however. The best months to visit here are from March to September and it is suitable for all levels of divers.
As you descend over the pinnacle, you’ll see loads of boulders and caves covered in in pretty coloured and densely-packed soft and hard coral formations like sea whips, barrel sponges, and gorgonian sea fans, all hosting macro creatures galore like nudibranchs, stem corals, spiny sea lilies and lots of crustaceans. If you look further down over the sandy ocean floor, you’ll see what looks like a weird amusement park of soft coral sponge sculptures.
Divers can go into the swim-through tunnels and rock canyons and observe massive hunting schools of snappers, surgeonfish, eagle rays, fusiliers, jacks, yellow fin barracudas, soldierfish and trevallies that are attracted in by the strong currents. The reefs themselves are swarming with gorgeous little fish like parrotfish, butterfly fish, and clownfish and emperor angelfish. You can also see moray eels, whitetip and blacktip reef sharks and pufferfish, as well as some rare pelagic fish like whale sharks.
