The country is home to 427 different bird species, 90 mammal species and 242 butterfly species. Sri Lanka prides the whole planet’s first wildlife sanctuary, from the year 300 BC. There are prehistoric monuments, tea plantations, and fortresses dotted amongst the open plains, grasslands, rainforests and cloud forests. Not only that, the country has remarkable beaches in the south coast that offers a fine setting for some days of relaxation and awesome diving.
