The Kira Kira liveaboard has been providing excellent service and great diving experiences to budget-conscious visitors of Indonesia since 2014. This traditional phinisi took more than 2 years to hand-build, and the vessel was created with safety, comfort and stability in mind. It is also very environmentally friendly and efficient, travelling up to 1000 nm in a very economic fashion. The Kira Kira allows for a wonderful small group experience by only accommodating 8 passengers across her 4 cabins, and each cabin provides guests with ample storage space and shared bathroom facilities.  There are 3 twin cabins and 1 double cabin on the rooftop which offers fantastic views. Perfectly suited for friends or families, the Kira Kira guarantees personalized attention, service and the ultimate in customer care.

Meals and home-cooked snacks are included in the trip cost, and the chef on-board creates wonderful dishes that combine western and Indonesian flavours together with that day’s catch. There is an open-air lounge space and a sun deck on board the Kira Kira which guests can use to relax and unwind when not exploring the beautiful underwater scenes.

Guests are treated to a land visit to the protected Komodo National Park where they might have the chance to spot the exotic Komodo Dragons as well as underwater visits to this area and that of Raja Ampat. These areas of Indonesia are known for their amazing biodiversity and rich, colourful marine life, so it’s unlikely that any diver will leave disappointed.

I loved the small group feel of the Kira Kira – it was great sharing the space with only a few close friends and the cabins and common areas were very comfortable.

The dive briefings were very well run and informative thanks to our knowledgeable dive guide, and once underwater we were simply amazed by the colours and sights all around us.

It was really great that the crew were so friendly and flexible, they accommodated our every request and made for a really enjoyable trip.

I’d definitely recommend this boat to others wanting to see Komodo National Park and Raja Ampat on a budget.
