Rental camera equipment is available and the Kona Aggressor even has a shark cage on board for any divers wishing to experience Hawaii’s big oceanic white tips. Oceanic white tips are one of the most aggressive pelagic sharks and deserve serious respect but make for a truly amazing experience.

I had only ever done day trips from hotels so the liveaboard option was a new concept and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Being on board the Kona Aggressor II was very comfortable and the crew provided great service at all hours.

The main reason I travelled to Hawaii was to experience the magnificent mantas, and this was just as wonderful as I had expected it would be.

An added bonus was that I got to swim with dolphins who were playfully swimming right alongside the boat several times throughout the trip.

Recommended for: Fantastic food and a great trip overall

The trip was definitely one of the better boat experiences I have had, with the major highlight being the manta rays, especially the night dive with the mantas. It would have been nice to have a second night dive with these magnificent creatures as this was a major highlight for everyone on board.

The crew members were professional and very knowledgeable, many of them having done this trip many many times so they were able to offer some great advice and show us the dive sites with a keen and experienced eye.

Recommended for: Great service from the crew and of course diving with manta rays.
