Guests on board the Sharifa are treated to some of the most amazing diving spots the Maldives has to offer. Thanks to a massive upgrade in 2015, this vessel is now 32 metres of pure liveaboard luxury and can host up to 23 guests.
The MV Sharifa has 9 cabins in total, some on the upper deck and some on the lower deck. The standard cabins, located on the lower part of the deck are air-conditioned and feature en-suite bathroom facilities. There is also a family cabin perfect for a couple travelling with a young child. The Sharifa has two junior suites located on the upper section of the deck which boast fantastic views of the surrounding sea. For on-board relaxation, the Sharifa has a sun deck with full sun and shaded areas as well as a bar and lounge on the main deck. The on-board restaurant is also located on the vessel’s main deck and serves a wide variety of local and international dishes. Tea, coffee and snacks are available throughout the day.
All dives will depart from the Sharifa’s diving dhoni, allowing for plenty of space on-board the main vessel. The itinerary varies depending on what time of year it is and each diver’s preference, with many experienced divers opting for the far away sites in the most southerly atolls. Here divers can hope to see hammerhead sharks, the elusive mola mola, beautiful striped tiger sharks and bull sharks. There is also the option of exploring the sites around the central atolls, where divers will find stunning corals and a wide variety of colourful marine life. Large pelagic species such as whale sharks and manta rays can be seen here too.
Diving is conducted from a 15-metre (49 ft.) dhoni dive tender which houses the compressors. Tanks are filled at your designated bay, where your equipment will remain set-up for the duration of your dive trip. Nitrox fills are also available. The dhoni also has it’s own 5m dive tender making it very easy for the crew to pick you up at the end of your dive and bring you back to the dhoni. The dhoni also has a fresh water shower and rinse tank as well as a toilet. A camera table is also fitted so that you can keep your underwater camera and photographic equipment separate from the rest of your dive gear.
You will enjoy up to 3 dives a day and one night dive per week. The final diving day is Saturday where you can enjoy a morning dive before returning to Hulumale lagoon around 3pm. You can enjoy a afternoon spent in Male for sightseeing and shopping before heading back to the boat for your final night on board. On your departure-day you will be transferred back to the airport in time for your flight.
Standard is 12 litre aluminium cylinders. We carry 2 pieces 15 litre tanks, but give them out (surcharge) only exeptionally. High air-consumption results from poor buyoancy and over-weighting. Overweighting results from lack of experience and too thick wetsuits. Water temperature is 27° also in depth. A 3mm suit is ideal, 5mm the maximum. With a 7mm for example you make your diving-life unnecessarily difficult. We do not appreciate the use of gloves.
3 delicious meals are served each day. Dishes are of Italian and International Cuisine and served open buffet format in the combined saloon and dining area on the main deck. You are welcome to eat outside on the shaded sun deck where you can enjoy the superb views.
Tea, coffee and drinking water are available 24 hours a day and a selection of snacks, biscuits and fruits are available between dives. There is great selection of local beer, spirits, and wine available at a reasonable cost, for consumption after the last dive of the day.
The Sharifa liveaboard has 9 cosy guest cabins and regularly travels with 18 guests. If guests are interested in chartering the Sharifa, please note that the capacity can increase to 23 guests depending on the sleeping arrangements required. The cabins are all individually air-conditioned with en-suite facilities including ample counter space in the bathroom as well as a basin and a hairdryer. The cabins feature storage space, over-bed reading lights, a vanity mirror and power outlets supplying 220V. There are international plug adaptors available on-board should guests require these.
