Lusong Gunboat is another small wreck in the Coron area that is popular as a snorkelling and diving site. Although it is small, there is a lot of marine life around the wreck and the depths going down to a maximum of 15 meters make this an ideal dive site for beginner divers. The wreck is on the side of a coral reef and so this reef is slowly encroaching onto the wreck and taking it over. It has slowly been colonised by soft corals and sponges. There are pufferfish taking shelter, as well as anemone fish, angelfish, wrasses, and butterflyfish.
This boat was originally a submarine attacker and was sunk during the Second World War. The main structure of the boat has gone and so it is an easy and safe dive.
As with other small wrecks in the area, once you have investigated the nooks and crannies of the wreck you can explore the nearby reef. This reef is in really good condition and it is easy to spot anemone fish, parrotfish, and cuttle fish as well as the normal tropical fish. Dive photographers will get some great wreck shots here, as the visibility is good and the currents normally slow.
