Bidong Islands consists of a lot of unexplored and non-commercialized diving sites. Until 1999, this site was used as a refugee camp for Vietnamese people and was off-limits to the tourists. This place is also used as a diving alternative for Redang. However, due to the distance of Bidong Islands, only a small amount of diving operators come here under special arrangements.
The water around Pulau Yu is deep and clear and ensures good visibility for the divers in Bidong diving site as well as in the reefs submerged between Pulau Yu Kecil and Pulau Yu Besar. Due to this, it is one of the most ideal diving sites that provide encounters with a diverse mix of reef life and batfish. Batu Tengkorak is another notable site which has a depth of approximately 14 meters. It gives divers the opportunity to encounter trevallies, barracuda, and mackerels in the dense and dotted coral formations. The Kapak Island also provides divers the opportunity to encounter the remarkable garden of blue anemone and the most ideal time to travel is during dusk, as the anemones emit a blue light during that time.
